Release: Faile Print - Sold Out, Apologies for the difficulties!

January 29th, 2013 Posted by: Paper Monster

Thank you for everyone who tried to pick up one of the new Faile prints this afternoon.Unfortunately, the site experienced some technical issues and there were a small number of over-sales. We really apologize for this inconvenience and are working to make sure the site can handle the traffic for the next release.

Sincerely, Paper Monster

So far, 2013 has been off to a great start for Paper Monster, with Swoon's Thalassa release and now a brand new print from Faile titled A Call To Adventure. This 18 layer screen print is inspired by their current wood paintings, which utilize sculptural elements such as wooden pallets and blocks. The vibrant colors in this print work great alongside the playful imagery of a modernized Mary Poppins. In addition, Faile are having a fun little giveaway influenced by Tootsie Pops shooting star icon. Find the Faile candy stamp on the back of your print, and you get a little treat.

Typical scam. These prints, be it banksy, faile, etc, etc...never really sell. it's always a technical issue, crashed website, quick sell out, etc...they never pick your email in drawings, etc.....f*cking liars and cheaters. 99 percent of the flippers are greedy bastards like these fly by night "galleries"

Paper Monster is awesome, I was just upset. It's the same day flippers that ruin this for us.

Bummer it's so hard to get art work you love with all the filipper out there. Not even half an hour after the sale started and it's already on ebay for three times the price: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Faile-A-Call-to-Adventure-Sold-Out-Rare-like-Banksy-Mondo-Obey-Geddes-print-/251221752236?pt=Art_Prints&hash=item3a7dfbb9ac

Offer a service? Don't offer a service? Don't offer something, then crash as soon as you try and check out then lose what you thought you'd bought. Or perhaps just offer a fucking shit service.

How do we know if our submitted order was one of the "oversales" or is confirmed and completed?

Hey, We are sorry for the technical problems and headaches the site may have cause for people. Just to clarify, we are offering a few prints to people as they are made available (people who have purchased, canceling their orders). No one gets special treatment. We also make every effort to find prints on Ebay and cancel orders/alert Ebay. We do not condone resales, and try to get the artwork to true fans, as best as we can. We will try harder. Sincerely, Paper Monster

As fans, we truly appreciate it, and everything you do. Hopefully, I'm lucky enough to get an opportunity to grab one. It was really a disappointment to receive the email that I was getting a refund after the joy of thinking I was lucky enough to be successful in purchasing one in the first place. Thanks again for caring enough to take to the time to let us know something.

i didn't manage to get one but i think paper monster's communication was great, they at least took the time to respond to emails and update buyers...more than most galleries will bother to do!!! maybe if your nice and don't bitch they might bust the flippers and double orders and give a few more genuine buyers an opportunity to buy the print. good luck to everyone. Don't get your hopes up buddy, Obey art said the same thing, "We also hate flippers and we will find the ebay flippers and cancel their orders, and if one becomes available, you will have the opportunity to purchase one" then I kept a close watch on several listings and they were never taken down or canceled, instead, some folks actually purchased some of the prints at the inflated prices, bottom line is that this is a business and just as long it sells out, they do not care who buys it, they will not invest the time to find 15-25 ebay listing and more added by the day and find out the seller ID and item#, then contact eBay and explain the whole situation and more likely eBay will not give out the sellers information without purchasing from the seller, even though eBay did release sensitive information of the sellers, then they would need to go to their Paypal account and sort out the 15-25 names out of hundreds of transactions, issue a refund and cancel their orders, then they would have to deal with the angry flippers and they may contact Better Business Bureau and file a complaint and hurt their business, then contact the people who got the refund for over selling and giving them a chance to purchase the prints, would have to do this in a daily basis, since new listings pops up everyday and some waits until they have the print in hand. Sounds like a big pain in the ass. Instead, they will tell you what you want to hear, to give people a sense of hope to get people off their back, but in reality, Nothing changes.

Obey buys prints off ebay just to find out who the flippers are. They keep track of who bought which number of print and ban them. Faile prints sell for so much more, it would be pretty hard for them to do the same thing.

Kript
report

Obey bought a print off eBay once, banned the dude and posted the letter on their site that Shepard Fairey wrote to the flipper just to prove a point, to make it look like they are doing something about it, Obey has been releasing prints in a weekly-bi-weekly basis in a edition of 450 usually, doubt they keep track of who bought which number off of the 450 of every prints released, only Banksy prints keep records, since they need the information for authentication in the future, ($75 a certificate of authenticity) and they would be bankrupt and out of business, if they buy every single print they sold for more than triple of what they sold it for.

HandiedanFaile
report

It wasn't just a one time thing. Some guy was bitching on Facebook a couple weeks ago who bought a print and flipped it. He went on and on about how Shepard Fairey was his favorite artist and he only sold his print because he needed the money. It's in the comments section of the Sedation of Millions release if I remember right.

I wasted an hour or so of my life, attempting without success, to buy one of these little beauties - every time I was "lucky" enough to cart I was frozen out. That said, I would rather eat rhino shit than pay treble on eBay. I hope that Paper Monster do trace these parasitic worms and cancel their orders, but I'm not holding my breath.

If you believe anything Paper Monster says, you're going to be really disappointed. Liars, that's about all that can be said for them.

Sir Mixdog

All their messages are to be posted on the pro boards. There you can see how they cheat, lie and steal from their customers. How they will sell you a print, take your money, and then turn around and give said print to one of their friends that was unable to get one. How they will always take care of their buddies, as long as their friends "keep it quiet". Paper Monster, pay attention who you're emailing you morons. Check who you're sending the message to before you hit "send".

Sir Mixdog

And Paper Monster, funny how you deleted about 15 messages on here from people you've screwed. Nice, really nice. Really, it's obvious you "appreciate the discourse". How does anyone let someone like you do business for them? Blows my mind.

I received tracking info today. If you had bad luck buying one, it's just that. Bad luck. Thousands of people are all trying to buy the same few prints at the same time. Demand is just greater than supply.

Kript
report

Very True, almost like buying a concert ticket to a extremely famous band or a group performing at a small theater or auditorium type venues, sells out in seconds and you will see the $75 tickets flipped for hundreds, if not thousands, usually the same scenario, people who couldn't get tickets usually throws a tantrum and very angry claiming they are true fans and blames the scalpers, same exact thing with print release from a popular artists, I can't imagine how many thousands of people accessed this site to bring this site to it's knees, ultimately knocking the site out, flat on it's back for hours.
